Anyone that travels frequently and shares living or sleeping quarters has an increased risk for being bitten and for spreading an infestation. Infestations usually occur near or around areas where people spend time at rest. These areas include residences, shelters, rooming houses, hotels, nursing homes, hospitals, cruise ships, buses, trains, theaters and dorm rooms, etc. They often feed at night depending upon the hosts habits. They hide in places such as the seams of a mattress, box springs, bed frames, headboards, dresser tables, cracks or crevices, behind wallpaper, and under any clutter or objects around a bed. Bed bugs can and will travel over 100 feet in one night, but they tend to live within 8-10 feet of where people sleep or spend time. |
